Detroit Police Chief James Craig on Tuesday announced a partnership with Nextdoor, the private social network for neighborhoods, to improve citywide and neighbor-to-neighbor communications.
Nextdoor has already proven to be an essential and well-adopted tool for Detroit residents. More than 120 neighborhoods in Detroit, have already started Nextdoor websites.
With Nextdoor, Detroit residents are able to create private neighborhood websites to share information, about neighborhood public safety issues, community events, activities, local services, and even lost pets. With the partnership of the Detroit Police Department, Neighborhood Police Officers will be allowed to access the site and post information pertaining to the city thereby keeping residents informed.
