Detroit Youth Service Corps

Program Overview

The Detroit Youth Service Corps is a project that aims to engage youth through ten weeks of summer service in the community while also providing various opportunities to develop both academic and professional skills. Members will participate in the planning, preparation and implementation of community service projects in Detroit’s Southwest and Osborn neighborhoods. Their projects will work to increase neighborhood safety and quality of life by completing beautification/board-up projects, surveying neighborhoods with the Healthy Home Screening Tool Assessment, and providing information to residents. Members also participate in weekly learning seminars designed to provide education geared towards career and college readiness as well as professional networking.
